Halala Africa
Halala Africa is a vibrant eight-piece ensemble based in Cape Town, proudly brought to you by Shake & Bake Entertainment. This dynamic band is dedicated to celebrating the rich diversity of South African music, taking audiences on a powerful musical journey from the iconic sounds of the 1960s to the rhythms of today. With influences from legends like Miriam Makeba, Johnny Clegg, and Freshlyground, Halala Africa delivers an exciting fusion of African pop, jazz, folk, and rock guaranteed to get you moving.
The group features four spirited vocalists, two accomplished guitarists, a soulful saxophonist, a versatile keyboardist, a groovy bassist, and an ever-smiling drummer who keeps the beat alive. Together, they create a joyful and high-energy soundscape that’s rooted in South African culture and filled with rhythm, harmony, and heart.
What truly sets Halala Africa apart is their commitment to connection. Their shows are not just performances—they’re interactive experiences. Audiences are invited to clap, dance, sing along, and even play traditional African instruments like drums and shakers. Interwoven with storytelling and cultural insight, each set brings to life the stories behind the music in a way that is both educational and entertaining.
Halala Africa’s members come from a variety of backgrounds, many having grown up in previously disadvantaged communities. By booking and enjoying their performances, you’re also contributing to the empowerment of local artists and the promotion of social upliftment through the arts. A proud moment in the group’s history was performing at the official launch of the Nelson Mandela Museum in Cape Town—a testament to their artistry and the values they represent.
